InsulFound™ is an insulation system for new or existing concrete slabs. It comprises of rigid foam insulation that significantly increasesthe thermal performance of your concrete slab and is protected externally by water-resistant treated forma-board. Available in a number of profiles, there is an InsulFound™ solution for any concrete slab, old or new.

Energy efficiency and Health

InsulFound™ is specifically designed to keep your home warmer, drier and healthier while saving considerably on heating costs.BRANZ (Building Research Association of New Zealand) considers that all concrete slab edges should be insulated. Their own research has concluded that approximately 80% of the heatloss through concrete slabs is though the foundation perimeter – not through the ground as many people assume. If you are using or intend to use in-floor heating, then InsulFound™ is the obvious choice. Used in combination, InsulFound™ will significantly reduce in-floor energy consumption and potentially reduce the size of the required heating unit.

Durability

All InsulFound™ profiles have a permanent external protection of water-resistant Forma-Board. Unlike direct applied plaster systems to insulating foam, Insulfound™ has a durable, hard wearing, water-resistant sheathing. Durable enough to protect from lawn mowers, kids bikes, cricket balls or other family activity impact.

Versatility

Due to the method of manufacture of InsulFound™ (CAD profiled cutting and specialized low energy pressing) it can be economically custom made to virtually any specification. Flat or sloping sites, it does not matter the ground profile or the foundation depth.

Cost saving

The cost of installing InsulFound™ will, in most cases, be offset by heating cost savings. This has been independently assessed at 30 – 40%. If under floor heating is used, the heating unit size and capacity should be reduced by at least a model size. InsulFound™ does not require expensive and time-consuming plastering as some systems do. Because InsulFound™ is permanent slab edge, the formwork stripping is considerably reduced.

Use as boxing (if desired)

Due to its rigid, composite construction, InsulFound™ can be used as foundation boxing. Avoiding other costly shutter material or the need to strip and clean. Only pegs, whaling’s and braces need to be removed from site

Which InsulFound™ Profile?

InsulFound™ comes in six standard profiles: Passive, Premium, Internal, External, Brick and Retrofit. To work out which profile suits your situation just follow our handy flow chart.

  • Passive Slab

    • Passive Slab
    The Passive Slab is a complete slab insulation system. This system achieves the extra R values required for Passive house certification. To be used in conjunction with Passive house design and specific hold down bolt requirements.

  • Premium

    • Premium
    The ‘Premium’ InsulFound™ is a complete slab insulation system. Both edge and under-slab. Ratings of R4.3 and above can be achieved using this complete system. Ideal for in floor heating systems and cold climates where temperatures fall below healthy levels and/or condensation is a factor.

  • Internal

    • Internal Profile
    The internal profile is designed for use with 90 or 140mm timber framing. But ensure specified Hold down details are used with 90mm. The InsulFound edge face is in the same position as the edge of an uninsulated foundation.

  • External

    • External Profile
    The external profile has been designed for new builds using 90mm timber framing with conventional Hold down. The profile projects outside the slab edge.

  • Brick

    • Brick Profile
    The brick profile is designed for foundations for brick or masonry cladding. The profile is narrower to account for the increased weight of this form of cladding.

  • Retrofit

    • Retrofit Profile
    The retrofit profile was developed to provide an insulation system to those with an already complete concrete slab. The profile can simply be glued to any existing foundation.

What lengths does InsulFound™ come in?

InsulFound™ comes in 3m lengths. InsulFound™ is not produced to cut lengths, so care should be taken to ensure there is allowance for any trimming of lengths.

How much will InsulFound™ cost?

InsulFound™ can be priced online using our quote calculator here. You will need to know the profile you require, the height of your foundation and the perimeter of the foundation.

What foundations can InsulFound™ be used with?

All concrete foundations can use InsulFound™ as the perimeter insulation, either at the time of slab being poured or retrofitted later. InsulFound™ RetroFit can also be used on the perimeter of concrete block foundations. If an example cannot be found within our technical literature, please contact us for assistance.

Can I order InsulFound™ to a different thickness?

The External and RetroFit profiles can be produced to any thickness required. The Internal and Brick profiles should not be changed in thickness without approval of an engineer. One-off tooling costs and procuring costs will apply. Lead times will also be lengthened slightly Please contact us with details of your custom requirment.

What finish can InsulFound™ have?

InsulFound™ comes pre=primed with our proprietary sealer. It can be finished with paint or plaster to your desired preference. Paint finish can be elastomeric or Non-slip textured pavind/decking paint. All damaged, chipped or modified surfaces must be sealed before finishing and have a final finish applied within 90 days.
